Bumble Bee Seafoods wanted to move away from a third-party e-commerce provider and bring online sales fully in-house. The goal was to gain more control over operations, reduce ongoing platform constraints, and deliver a more seamless buying experience for customers across devices.
I integrated e-commerce functionality directly into their existing CMS so the store lived inside the same system their team already relied on. This kept the shopping experience consistent with the brand and ensured content and commerce worked together smoothly.
Rather than rebuilding the site from the ground up, I enhanced what was already in place and made it stronger. Commerce features were incorporated into existing templates and workflows, making them easier to maintain and easier for internal teams to manage over time.
To improve the customer experience, I implemented a modern slide-out AJAX shopping cart. Shoppers could add products, remove items, and update quantities instantly without page reloads, which kept browsing fast and reduced interruptions during the purchase flow.
I also made targeted front-end optimizations focused on clarity, performance, and checkout usability. Small refinements throughout the shopping journey helped reduce friction, improve responsiveness, and guide customers through the checkout process with fewer steps and less confusion.
The end result was a streamlined checkout flow and a more cohesive online store that felt integrated and polished. Bumble Bee’s team gained greater ownership over their e-commerce operations while customers benefited from a faster, smoother shopping experience from start to finish.
