The Women’s Community Clinic was happy with their website’s existing design and did not want a visual redesign or major template changes. However, the site relied on a generic WordPress plugin to provide a separate mobile version, which limited flexibility and made the experience feel disconnected from the main site.

The primary goal was to modernize the mobile experience while preserving the original design and layout. Rather than introducing new templates or changing the front end structure, the solution needed to keep the site looking the same while making it work naturally across phones, tablets, and desktops.

I replaced the mobile plugin with a custom jQuery and CSS based responsive solution. This allowed the site to adapt to different screen sizes using modern responsive behavior, without forcing a separate mobile theme or restricting design decisions through plugin limitations.

A key requirement was maintaining the integrity of the existing front-end templates. I built the responsive layer to work with what was already in place, ensuring the desktop design remained unchanged while the layout and UI elements adjusted cleanly for smaller devices.

This custom approach also improved long-term maintainability by removing dependency on a third-party mobile plugin. With fewer moving parts and less plugin overhead, the site became easier to support and less likely to break during updates or WordPress changes.

The end result was a fully responsive website that preserved the clinic’s approved design while delivering a modern, mobile friendly experience. Visitors gained a smoother, more consistent browsing experience and the clinic gained a more flexible foundation for future updates.
